Best Parent Car Features

Favorite Car Features for Parents in Watertown, WI

We all have "extras" we want in a vehicle, but parents come to the table with a specific set of needs and challenges. Vehicle manufacturers have taken note, and there are several features parents especially love to have included in their car.

1. Built in sunshades. No one likes using those suction-cup screens that barely cover a portion of the window. Many cars now come with shades that slide up from the base of the window and can retract when not in use. These are perfect for shielding little eyes from the bright sun.

2. Hands-free door opening. With just a touch of a button on the key fob, or in some instances the tap of a toe on a tailgate, doors and hatches can open to be ready and waiting for approaching families. Any parent will tell you that this can be a lifesaver especially when your hands are full with groceries, or if your arms are full with one of your little angels, throwing a full-on temper tantrum.

3. Onboard vacuum. This sounds like an extravagant feature, but it is definitely one that will be used frequently when kids are a part of the scene. It can be inconvenient to go to a car wash and use their vacuum to clean out the car, so having one on-board is perfect for the inevitable crumbs that will infiltrate the floor and seats.

4.  Hydrophobic windows. Ok, so this one is something anyone would appreciate, but it's definitely worth mentioning. Windows that shed/repel water mean better visibility and a safer drive.

5. Pedestrian detection with auto-brake. When you're frequently in a school zone at drop-off or pick-up, with lots of children running around, a little added peace of mind goes a long way. This feature will alert you if a pedestrian (or bicyclist) is in your car's path, and can even brake for you if you don't react quickly enough.
