The 2014 Dodge Avenger is a nice-looking car with smooth, clean lines and sharp creases. The crosshair grille is a Dodge trademark, and the Avenger uses black crosshairs lightly outlined in chrome. There are twin character lines on the hood, deep enough that you can see they're V-shaped, but they don't do much to accentuate the length of the hood, and the headlights are not very sleek. The new Blacktop Package applies the look of the R/T to the SXT, minus the tape stripes and substituting unique black-painted alloy wheels. The prevailing impression inside the Dodge Avenger is driven by its to-the-point layout and easy, comfortable space. The trunk is lined with surprisingly rich carpet, almost as good as what's inside the cabin. 

Power and Handling of the 2014 Dodge Avenger

The 2014 Dodge Avenger SE and SXT are powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that produces 173 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission in the SE and a six-speed automatic in the SXT. The Avenger R/T gets a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 283 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard. On the road the 2014 Dodge Avenger delivers strong performance when equipped with the 3.6-liter V6, an engine that also delivers livable fuel economy. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder is rather underwhelming, but is probably good enough to meet the needs of most buyers.
