Powertrains and performance
In the 2023 Ram 1500, the V6 and V8 gasoline-powered engines are both assisted by a 48-volt hybrid system but you can get the 5.7-liter hemi V8 in a more pure configuration without the electric support. The diesel V6 gives you 260 horsepower and is available in the 1500 Tradesman, the Big Horn, Lone Star, Laramie, Limited Longhorn and Limited trims.
Every model of the new Ram 1500 comes with a rear suspension system that uses standard coil springs or optional air springs instead of the more conventional leaf-spring arrangement you'll find with domestic competitors. The result is a more comfortable ride. Ram 1500 models with air suspension even come with an adjustable ride height and that improves fuel efficiency while also helping to boost off-road performance.
Towing and payload capacity
The 2023 Ram 1500 can tow a maximum of 12,750 pounds and it hauls a payload of up to 2,320 pounds. That maximum towing capacity is better than most other comparable rivals. If you select a Ram 1500 with the extended cab you can pull more than the versions with the crew cab body style, but the crew cab still has plenty of strength and tows as much as 11,500 pounds.
Exterior highlights
The exterior of the new Ram 1500 offers available LED fog lamps that can improve your visibility in foggy conditions.
